Geocache Description:

This VIRTUAL CACHE will hopefully be fun, educational for the entire family ~~ and a bit challenging.

Earn a 'FIND' - and learn more about our GC (Grand Canyon, or Geocaching) state by finding the following information about Arizona's State Symbols. All you have to do is some research ~books or on the Web~ some leg/camera work, and EMAIL THE ANSWERS DIRECTLY TO ME while posting a few pictures with descriptions and coordinates in your log.

DO NOT PUT ANY ANSWERS IN YOUR LOGS!!!! only post the UNNAMED pictures and their GPS coordinates/description of where found, and any other comments you'd like to make that are not spoilers.

Any log that contains answers will be immediately deleted until it can be re-posted correctly.

Have fun and ~grin~ do your own work! :) don't share!

There are THREE PARTS to complete this cache:

  1. The TEN State Symbols
  2. The Arizona Flag
  3. The Arizona State Seal
Find the answers to these 10 state symbols:
What is the Arizona State:
  1. Flower
  2. Tree
  3. Bird
  4. Gem
  5. Fish
  6. Fossil
  7. Amphibian
  8. Reptile
  9. Mammal....and (yes, we have one....)
  10. Official Neckware
Remember, you must EMAIL these answers to me, do not put in your posted log.
Also, you must take a PICTURE of ONE of the above symbols, of the actual object, not a pic of a pic. Post this pic with a description of where found and the GPS location. DO NOT NAME IT IN THE PIC!
For the State Gem, it must be only the gem, not mounted in any form of jewelry or other mounting.

Although some of these may be rarer to find than others, I am hoping that some of us intrepid geocachers will be up to the challenge of providing a variety of pics of these different would be fun to eventually have pics of all ten!

The Arizona State Flag:
Take a picture of the AZ Flag (actual Flag, not a pic, plaque or sign) and post it in your log with a description of where it is and the GPS coordinates. Then EMAIL to me the answers to the following 2 questions:

  1. What is the color of the star and what does it represent?
  2. Who designed the flag?
The Arizona State Seal:
Take a picture of the AZ State Seal and post it in your log with a description of where it is and the GPS coordinates. The EMAIL to me the answer to the following question: 1. What is the State Motto and what does it mean in English?
Please follow the directions carefully and enjoy this 'treasure hunt'. All photos must be original photos taken by you for this cache - not internet downloads or old vacation snap shots! There is a similar cache for NEVADA -- see GC9736
