We hope you don't get "Lost" while finding this 'cache! You will need a boat, kayak or canoe to get to Aschenbrenner Island. In the winter the island is accessible over the ice. The island has many campsites available as well as a pit toilet. Wabikon Lake is one of our favorites for kayaking and the island is fun to explore.
The cache is a large ammo can with some swag and small trade items inside. During the summer months there are usually several people camping on the island but the cache is not very close to any of the sites. However, depending on which campsites are being used stealth may be needed. Please replace the cache and surrounding area just as it was to prevent exploring muggles from finding it. The cache is rated a difficulty of 5 based on the need to have a boat of some kind to access the island. Otherwise the cache is kid friendly. We placed it with our 3 year old daughter who also enjoyed the kayak ride! Parking is available near Johnnie's Resort where there is a boat landing or there is a small area off of Hwy 8 where we typically launch our kayaks from.
Permission was granted from the Wisconsin DNR land manager and the Geocahe Placement Notification form is submitted for placement of this geocache.
Hopefully you will have an easier time opening this "hatch" than John Locke did on another island!
