Geocache Description:

Ilsington Church is a beautiful Church set in a very peaceful village right on the edge of Dartmoor. Although set rather “out of the way” well worth a visit.

The cache is placed outside the Church grounds

There is plenty of parking around the Church but under no circumstances park too close to the Lychgate as it blocks the road.

There isn’t too much information about the church itself so please take the time to walk around and inside this wonderful building.

I have given you 2 points to collect information from because I want you to enjoy the visit here by exploring the  Grounds. Whilst I was placing the cache the lady who’s house is next to the Lychgate commented how lovely it was and is very pleased that I am bringing people here to see it.

The above Co-Ordinates will take you through a very interesting Lychgate where you will find 2 plaques on the left wall as you go through the gate. You will need to count how many of each surname.

Over both plaques. Surnames. “Ellis + Bradford + Beer = F” “Roberts + Courtier =C” “Cox + Heath = G”

The second set of Co-Ordinates take you to a sign by the remains of the old Manor House. Here you will need to read the information to discover the dates you need.

The last Lord Dynham Died in 1A0B

In which year was the Manor in Two Ownerships? 1EH9

In which year was part of the site sold? 18D1

N50 34.(F/H) D (A+B) W003 42.(E+B) (F+G) (E-C)
