Geocache Description:

[Lat] Slēpnis ir regulāra izmēra kaste. Tajā iekšā ir zīmulis un lietas apmaiņai. Pirmajam atradējam dāvanā TB.

[ENG] The cache is regular box. It contain pencil and item for trade. First founder as a present TB.


LIELĀ ELLĪTE

[LAT] Pēc Sietiņieža arkas sagrūšanas, Lielās Ellītes arkāde ir palikusi vienīgais šādas formas dabīgā smilšakmens veidojums Latvijā. Ala kopā ar avotu ir nozīmīga svētvieta, objekts ir bijis ļoti populārs jau kopš seniem laikiem. Ellīte varētu būt 7 - 6.5 tūkst. gadu veca. Klints vēl joprojām ir ļoti savdabīga - pie alas ieejas ir izciļņi, nišas, dobumi, Latvijai unikāla arkāde.

Par Liepas Lielo Ellīti saglabājušās arī daudzas teikas un nostāsti. Viens stāsts ir par velnu, kas bija ieslēpies Lielajā Ellītē, un nekādas mācītāju lūgšanas nav varējušas to izdzīt – viņš biedējis ļaudis un pastrādājis dažādas trakulības. Beidzot atnācis kāds mācītājs, kuram pašam nav bijis neviena grēka – tad gan velns meties bēgt pāri Gaujai uz Sietiņiezi. Gauja aizšķērsojusi velnam ceļu, tādēļ viņš lasījis cepurē akmeņus kā rāceņus un bēris upes dzelmē. Izcēlies bargs negaiss, un Pērkons spēris velnam, kas tomēr „pa Gaujas dibinu aizvilcies uz Sietīnu”.

[ENG] Unusual geomorphological and culture monument. It consists of cave (lenth - 23 m), powerful spring, several arches and cliff.
These are the only sandstone archs in Latvia after the collapse of Sietiniezis arch. In total here are three arches. Those arches represent a part of the former cave which has been connected with the present day cave. Cave together with the spring are important archaeological monuments - ancient cult site. Unfortunately the former respect to this site has vanished and substituted by vandalism. It continues even today. Here was mined sand - this continued until 1920ies. Before those mining activities this monument resembled large organ with numerous pipes of sand
