Geocache Description:

Come escape the summer heat for a great day of geocaching in the beautiful Oregon Cascades. This will be a great event to meet other geocachers, introduce family and/or friends new to the sport of geocaching while exploring the Willamette and Deschutes National Forests.

EVENT UPDATE: Cache for the Eagle has been cancelled do to lack of registrations for this event. It takes a lot of effort for one person to organize and I don't want to drive up to have no one show. However, I will consider doing this again next year.

EVENT DETAILS: Cache for the Eagle is a free event that will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Willamette Pass Resort and will involve finding new and pre-existing caches in both the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests. This will be an all day event, so bring your friends, family or anyone else who you think may enjoy the game of geocaching. Due to the nature of this event and the sheer size of the playing field, we encourage participants to create teams of two or more.

The majority of geocaches will easily be accessible a short distance off select hiking trails and U.S. Forest Service roads, including the Skyline and Pacific Crest Trail. In addition, Willamette Pass Resort offers a summer sightseeing gondola that may be used for easier access to select caches at a nominal fee ($8 per person).

Each registered person in attendance will receive a raffle ticket for the general raffle taking place during the award ceremony. In addition, each geocache contains a stamp inside, which you will use to mark your find on your stamp sheet which will earn you additional tickets for the general raffle.

If you have any items you would like to donate to the general raffle that would be greatly appreciated.

Creative Cache Contest: Do you create unique geoachces? If so, consider entering this contest. Drop off your geocache when registering/signing in for the event. Attendees will vote on their favorite and the winner will be announced during the award ceremony.

TO REGISTER: Log a “WILL ATTEND” on this cache page.
