Please join us for a CITO event at Jonathan Dickinson State Park on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 8:15AM. We will be helping the park remove invasive plants such as rattlebox and periwinkles. This is a great way to celebrate National Public Lands Day! Please plan to give several hours of your time.
When you log your Will Attend, please give an approximate head count so I can pass it along to the park.
Posted coordinates are the parking lot by the ranger station. For now plan to meet there; if the assembly point in the park changes I will update the coordinates accordingly and make an Announcement.
Neither periwinkles nor rattlebox are thorny, but other thorny plants might be in the area. Periwinkles pull out easily, but rattlebox are a little tougher. Gloves are optional, but are probably a good idea.
The park will provide trash bags. The park should provide us with some water, but based on past history I would recommend bringing your own water and water bottles as well. Don't forget hats and sunscreen as we will almost certainly be working in areas with little or no shade. Please wear close-toed shoes.
After the CITO would be a great time to find some caches before they start getting archived in October in preparation for CP8! Also, admission to the nearby Hobe Sound NWR is free on this date.
