Come celebrate Lucky Number 7! Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 09:00-13:00.
Hey all, it's that time again - time to celebrate National Public Lands Day, enjoy the company of fellow cachers, and give back to our environment. Open Space will be holding a CITO event at the beautiful - but sparsely-visited - Manzano Open Space south of I-40.
I'm still working on lining up sponsors for the bagels & cream cheese. I'm going to contact a new bagel place shortly after they open to see if we can have a new bagel provider. After the event, we will have a raffle for some great door prizes donated by REI. We will be meeting at the the trailhead just inside the gate at the end of Stagecoach Rd SE. You will need to park along the street and walk down to the registration table. Please be mindful of the neighbors when parking.
You'll need to bring water, gloves, hat/sunscreen, and a positive attitude. Check back, and please feel free to leave your feedback, either here or at the thread I've created on the NMGeocaching.com forum. Thanks!
I'd like to also get some crowd-sourced data collected during this event if possible. I've been gathering data to document all of the existing trails in this Open Space, and noting any instances of off-road vehicle (ORV) usage. If you're interested in helping out, contact me at ezsemlye@cabq.gov, and I'll get you the data that I already have. That way, you can focus your efforts on recording trails that have not yet been mapped. Let me know if you have any questions about this or anything else related to the event. Thanks, and I'll see you there!
