Wizard of Ooze: Hi,
Event caches are generally archived within a month after the event is concluded so it doesn't continue to show up on searches and pocket queries. In the future, please try to remember to archive your events within that time period.

Thanks!

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Learn about geocaching from experienced geocachers. This fun-for-everyone activity will have you out exploring your world with a GPS. You’ll learn what geocaching is all about, how to find and hide a geocache, how to use the popular geocaching website, what to do with travel bugs and geocoins, and responsible geocaching. We will have some extra GPS units (but bring your own GPS or GPS enabled smartphone if you have one).

The event is being held in the JDF - Fieldhouse. It is located in a separate building behind the rec centre and down the hill. It is not in the main rec centre building.

1-3pm - an interactive class session facilitated by Chris Edley which will be geared to adults and older children.

3-4pm - a BCGA presentation by Chris Yuill (BCGA VP) along with a ‘meet and greet’ style event to ask even more questions.

After you’ve learned the basics you can get some hands on practice to find some caches nearby or head home to practice on your own.

Not that you need additional enticement, but home baked nut-free cookies and bottled water will be provided by the volunteers for your refreshment and enjoyment.

Presented by the Geocaching Community of Greater Victoria, the BCGA and Landsharkz.

Events like this cost money and we'd appreciate a donation of $5 per attendee to cover the associated costs with hosting this event, hosting future GCGV events and maintaining the GCGV presence online. Costs incurred today are renting this venue and providing the snacks and water. Please look for the donation jar!
