Geocache Description:

Have you still got a few CDs knocking about? Fancy exchanging them for some different ones?

Fancy a tricky scramble to get to the cache? One you might need a bit of extra help to reach?

This cache idea is blatantly borrowed from several others out there ( see GC2CC8, GCH1XJ, GC1AWEM, GC1D3TX and GC36YP6), so I can’t claim the concept my own…but, hey…it’s a great idea!

To make mine a little more interesting, however, I have added a little music quiz to help get you to Ground Zero. The coordinates published are simply a place to park.

This is a CD exchange cache and will only work as it’s meant to if you arrived armed with one of your own (legal… no pirated stuff please and playable) CDs to exchange with one in the Ammo Can.

I have dropped about 10 in there of all tastes  - some music, some comedy - so grab one and swap it for your own.

Warning: there is a wicked short scramble up a steep bank to the cache so I have rated it quite high on the difficulty level. If your build is not that athletic you may want to take a small child to fling up the bank or someone to give you a ‘bunk-up’!!

So, “where is it?” I hear you ask?....Well, read on:

The coordinates are as follows……N AB CD.EFG   E STU VW.XYZ

The following questions will give you the numerical values of the letters:

1: Which volume of “Now that’s what I call Music” was released on 25th March 2002?  =  (AB)

2: Sonny Boy Williamson II, a blues singer from Mississippi, penned a song which was not only covered by Muddy Waters and Canned Heat but also gave the band formally known as “Stan’s Blues Band” a new name in 1979. This band then went on to publish their first album “Live at the Marquee”, which was recorded on 16 June 1980. Take the name of this band, remove the central word and place the remaining two words in reverse alphabetical order. This will give you the value of (CD)

3: What was the 14th track from the 14th studio album by Prince? = (E)

4: Track 9 on the White Stripes album “Get behind me Satan” is called “Passive Manipulation” and is exactly how many seconds long? It is the same duration as the track “With Fire and Steel” by the New Jersey Viking Metal band Helcaraxë from the album “Triumph and Revenge”.  Add to this figure the duration (in minutes) of the song  “Accidents will happen” – track 1 from the Elvis Costello album “Armed Forces” and you will have the value of= (FG)

5: What are the first 3 words of the lyrics of the single “Magic” by Pilot from their debut album “The Album of the Same Name”? = (STU)

6:  “RLRR LRLL” is the first track on the album “Sunshine Salvation” by which Australian Indie Rock band? Subtract from this the number in the name of the American rock band from Southern California most well known for their single releases “Inside Out” and “Here’s to the Night” and you will have the value of  (VW)

7: The track “Song (X)” was track (X) on the album ”Blur” – it was single number (X) to be released from the album and reached position (X) in the charts. It was (X) minutes log!  = (X)

8: The 5th studio album by which band was an alternative soundtrack to the film “Silent Running”, commissioned by the Glasgow Film Festival in 2011. The two numbers in the band’s name give you (YZ)

Please make sure the Ammo can is locked down properly when returning to keep the moisture out.

Note: Ammo cans can be a little tricky to open, too, so don’t break your finger nails!

Good Luck, Pop Pickers!

Bring back Pirate Radio!!
