Geocache Description:

Take a stroll through Blackburn's exclusive and beautiful Bellbird Estate. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this picturesque and rural retreat amongst the bustle of a busy suburb.

This cache is a relatively simple multi, with a twist, and should take about half an hour by foot (which is the best way to explore this area, and necessary for the final anyway!)

The Bellbird estate of Blackburn is a highly sought after and exclusive oasis. The narrow winding streets, lack of footpaths, old historic houses and some great remnant bushland creates an environment worlds apart from the more 'usual' suburbs just streets away. As such, houses are highly sought after here, priced accordingly, and rarely change owners.

So without being able to live here, do the next best thing and take a tour:

At the starting location you will see a power pole with a set of yellow/black numbers on it. Identify the 4th number. That = A

Now proceed to:

S 37 49.5(A-4)0  E 145 08.(A-1)52

At this location you will see a sign with a number on it. That number = B

Now proceed to:

S 37 49.4A7  E 145 08.8(Bx2)

At this location you should see some rather delightful mosaic numbers. There should be two 2-digit numbers within sight. Add these together, and that number = C

Now proceed to:

S 37 49.5(C+A)  E 145 08.9(Bx2)

At this location you will be able to find out some more of the history behind this remarkable area you've just been walking through. Approximately how many timber houses were built here by Elmore? That = D

Now proceed to:

S 37 49.6(D-5)  E 145 08.7(AxA)

At this location you can take a seat, find the final clue, and really appreciate the sights and sounds of the Bellbird. In fact, you'll need to if you want to find the final cache...

Please make sure you return all elements of the cache as you found them before leaving.

This cache has been placed with the approval of the Blackburn Creeklands Advisory Committee. You can find out more about them and their fantastic work keeping this pocket of nature as good as it is at their website. I strongly recommend a visit as a they're a great bunch of hard working people who have been very supportive of geocaching since they stumbled upon this cache.
