Welcome to the Interpretive Center. Here you can find displays on the natural history, archeology and culture of the Yanamarca Valley. The museum guide can answer your questions about the geocaches in the Yanamarca Valley and how to get to them.
This is the place to pick up your “In the Andes of Peru” GeoTour Passport. A GeoTour is a set of caches—in our case, caches in the Yanamarca Valley. On the geocaching.com website, look under GeoTours, select “In the Andes of Peru” and you will find a list of all 44 of the geocaches that are part of this tour. There is also a link to a website with further information about the GeoTour and an explanation of exactly how it works. You can download the Passport (score sheet) from the website. You can also get a Passport at the following locations:
Tunanmarca
The Interpretation Center in Tunanmarca (here) GC4T042
If the museum is closed, you can try the Municipalidad (Town Hall) of Tunanmarca, 40 meters away, on the west side of the plaza. Go upstairs and ask for the secretary, in the office of the Alcalde (Mayor)

If you complete the GeoTour, you can win a prize, as explained on the Passport. You can turn in your completed Passport and collect your prize at any of the locations listed above.
A small cache is hidden outside the museum, and is accessible any time. Inside the museum is a larger cache container. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. The entrance fee is 1 nuevo sol. (At the time of this writing that’s 40 cents in US currency)
