This place has so many memories for me, It supported my family well! My Uncle worked here driving cars off the line over to JATCO, It was dad's first good job back when it was fisher body, he retired from there in maintenance . Actually he mowed the lawns in the later years My brother started working summers while in college and finnaly gave up on college to work full time and retired from here just as the plant closed down. Me......well I was young and not so worldly and only worked here 88 days in the late 70's it didn't end so well for me! One could still have hope someone can breath new life into this landmark.
This was the first GM plant outside the Detroit area and is full of history for so many people. I felt sad there was no caches here and I spent 2 months coming up with this one.
Please note you do not have to access GM property to locate this cache. Parking is REALLY close and if you have the luck to find this there is a local libation establishment right there.....I spent a few nights there myself back in the day unfortunately the ol' 95 bar is torn down but this icon remains stop in and say hi The owner is aware of the cache and would appreciate some new comers to the area. Plus hey what better way to celebrate a find but with a cold one!.
Congrats on the FTF to Ford 86, Ronz417 and Szirk Wow I did not think it would be published so fast or found.......great job everyone!!!!
