5 mile point, also known as Big point, is a scenic place. You could walk there from Sandspit, simply following the shoreline. Views of the Hecate Straight are beautiful from the beach.
Getting onto the beach, on your right you can see the Copper Bay, and across, Dogfish Bay and Sheldens Bay. From the point itself, it is possible to see Cape Chroustcheff, which is the southern point of the East beach of Sandspit.
Also overlooking the beach at this point is the "Copper Bay Lodge", a small flyfishing resort. This is a private property, so please do not trespass.
At the point, you also won't miss the huge antenna set in what has become a horse field. It is part of transport canada's series of beacons and antennas to aid with air navigation and ease the approach to the Sandspit Airport.
You will need to walk to the point along the beach to reach the cache site. The cache is 10 metres away from the beach.
