Winter friendly cache that can be easily found until the snow gets to approximately 4 feet deep. A pair of showshoes would be a definite asset.
Cache was placed due to the frustration I have felt in the last few weeks when caches are not easily found due to snow. Snow should not be a problem for this cache. Cache is located off the main trail. A nice walk during the winter. Other than the possibility of PI or wetness, cache conditions should be good for all other seasons as well. During winter, it is a very family friendly cache for all ages, as long as legs are long enough for snowshoes. There is a Scouts Canada Crest for the first to find. Not much room for anything else other than the logbook and pencil. Be prepared for a 15-20 minute round hike for an adult. Parking on the road in winter is not such a good idea, as there is not much room. There is ample parking at the new Ottawa Recreation facility nearby. My timings are based on parking here. Cache was placed during a walk with my dog with a temperature of -24 degrees Celsius. My GPS kinda jumped around a bit. I am blaming it on the cold. Double checked the next day. It was just as cold but I got the same readings. If there is a concern about coordinates, please let me know and I will check in warmer weather.
