*** BOOK ACROSS THE BAY (starting on the HARD (frozen waters) ***
From the website www.batb.org - Winter in northern Wisconsin is long, dark and cold. Come late February, those residents of the Chequamegon Bay region who haven't gone off to find sun and sanity somewhere down south can get a little stir crazy. Around the holiday season in 1996, a group of people got together to talk about how to make the winter a little more bearable by giving ourselves and our neighbors something to look forward to in our own backyards. Members of that group also were active in the Tri-County Medical Society and the Friends of the Washburn Public Library, and were looking for a way to benefit those organizations.
Who would have thought that 18 years ago this small event which began at Washburn WI with over 300 skiers and has grown to approximately 3000 skiers/snowshowers/participants.
You must sign your name at the Flash Mob Log during the 15 minute gathering to be able to claim the “find.” A drawing will be held for FTF honors and for other small prizes.
