Welcome to the Chameleon Cache!
Current Goal(s): Find a Fort, a GPS-enabled Santa or lyrical location!
How this cache works:
Previous cache goals:
Similar to The Scavenger Hunt Cache, this cache is based upon cachers finding specific cache goals. As the name of the cache suggests, the goals of the cache will periodically change.
To log the cache, a finder must post the coordinates and a photo of their GPS with the current goal. The cache can be logged from anywhere in the world.
Goals will remain active for a period of time and can be logged multiple times by different finders.
Previous goals can still be logged as finds until the goal has been retired. Once a goal has been retired, it may not be logged again. See the list of previous goals below.
The same finder may log the cache multiple times but not for the same goal.
I reserve the right to determine whether the finder has met the requirements of the goal in the spirit which it was intended.
College or pro sports mascots (someone in costume or a live animal) (retired)
Movie locations (retired)
Houses from MTV's The Real World (retired)
Presidential Libraries (retired)
1. Pre-1900 forts
Find a fort that was built before the year 1900. This can be any fortress that was built for military purposes. Some part of the fort must still be the original construction and standing. Please provide a photo, the coordinates and any relevant historical information you can find.
2. GPS-enabled Santas! (active until 12/31/2005 only)
Sound easy? You'll need to find a Santa and snap a picture of him holding a GPS. This must be a live person in a full Santa outfit. No fair dressing up yourself or friends. Be sure to explain the advantages of GPS over the RDS (Reindeer Guidance System) that he currently uses.
3. Lyrical locations
Find a location that is specifically mentioned in the lyrics of a song. Post the lyrics (or at least the part with the location mentioned), song name and artist of the song as well as a photo of the GPS, the coordinates and a sign at the location showing the exact place name mentioned in the lyrics.
A. Lyrics such as "Bridge over troubled water" and a photo of a "bridge" sign are not acceptable - unless there is an actual bridge by that name(?).
B. Likewise, "Sitting in an english garden waiting for the sun" is also unacceptable as "english garden" does not refer to a specific place. The place must be a proper noun, be specific and referred to as a place in the song.
C. Any place by that exact name will do. Finding the actual "Electric Avenue" that Eddy Grant sings about is not necessary. (and might be dangerous) :)
Feel free to email me with any questions! Make sure your photos are below the 100k size limit and are of good quality. The cache coordinates above are for Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC which is a fitting place for chameleons to call home.
