This is a night cache. Cachers shouldn't go near the vampire's sleeping area in the daytime.
The terrain is rocky with roots, ruts, some incline. The vampire seems to like to stay near water. Sturdy footwear is a good idea for vampire hunting.
Nighttime is the safest time to look for a vampire's sleeping area because he shouldn't be there.
Is the vampire asleep? To find out, start your search at the posted coordinates where a car might park. Look for the glowing firetacks until you find his resting area. (White tacks along path, above head height. At orange look further into the woods. At orange & white begin bushwacking. At two white look for the "coffin" to the north.) When you find the "bed," decide whether it is safe to be in the area.
Is the bed occupied or empty? If it is empty, then it might be safe to look around. Watch overhead for bats of unusual size. (Perhaps about 20 paces at 175 degrees) If you see such a bat, there is no hiding from it- you'll have to lure it to you and make your mark upon its heart to protect you from this vampire.
Congratulations to Profbrad, haloedversionls, and 74VWbusFamily for being the first to brave the vampire and to carels for being a very close second.
