Geocache Description:

Welcome to, Winton North School No 1637.

The School was opened on the 1st January 1876 on a 2acre site of the Bain property and closed on the 2nd June 1945 due to dwindling numbers .

The 1st Headmaster of the school was James Darton .

The school burnt down in 1898 the day after it was used as a election polling booth  ,and was rebuilt in January 1900.

 


The Winton Wetlands  Reserve  has limited facilities and weather conditions can change quickly .

Be aware that trees and limbs may fall unpredictably .Being under or near trees may be dangerous and could cause injury .
