Geocache Description:

Almada Seminar was founded as a seminary of the Lisbon Patriarchate in 1935. The origin of the current building dates back however to 1569 with the founding of the Dominican Convent of São Paulo Almada. With the earthquake of 1755, the convent suffers major damage, with only the church was restored almost immediately. Once abandoned by Dominicans, for lack of conditions, it is sold back to the possession of the Patriarchate of Lisbon in 1934. The Church has a single nave covered with a barrel vault, is partially covered with blue and white tiles of the eighteenth century, representing scenes of sacred history of the Order of St. Dominic. The High Altar and side rail feature baroque altarpieces of the eighteenth century; the first, with polychrome images of St. Peter and St. Paul, and in seconds, images of the Immaculate Conception and Calvary. Sacristy The coated tiles of blue and yellow standard type century. XVII is one of the most beautiful cloistered areas. A Sacristia revestida a azulejos do tipo padrão azuis e amarelos do Séc.
