Near the summit of Morse Mountain. Not really a mountain, more of a
big hill. Great views and a beach nearby. Well worth the hike not
only to the cache, but to the beach as well. Note: The land owners
do not allow dogs on their property, including in your car if its
in their parking lot. The parking lot is just off Rte. 216, N 43d
44.700' W 069d 50.238'.
The cache is an ammo box. It is in an area with a lot of granite
ledge outcroppings and many "beach pines." There are some houses at
the summit of Morse Mountain. The cache is beyond the houses a
little way into the woods. There is a path that will take you quite
close to the hide. We visited the cache on October 3, 2005, to
replace the box and add a few items. The original logbook was wet
& mildewed. The logbook that is there now is one that was
placed by Ye Old Prospector on one of his visits (thanks again,
YOP). Hopefully the ammo box will be more resistant to animals
trying to chew their way into it than was the Rubbermaid box that
was there before.
