A Anta (ou dólmen) é um sepulcro megalítico construído pelos primeiros agricultores e pastores que habitaram este território entre os III e os IV milénios antes de Cristo.
Presentemente no concelho de Castelo de Vide existem trinta antas e dois menires o que evidencia uma significativa expressão destas primitivas comunidades agro-pastoris construtoras de megalíticos.
Esta Anta é um dos exemplos mais imponentes do megalitismo nestas paisagens Alto Alentejanas, estando classificada, desde 1910, como monumento nacional.

The dolmen is a megalithic tomb built by the first farmers and shepherds that habited this territory between the III and IV millenniums before Christ.
Until now, in Castelo de Vide, we have been able to identify thirty dolmen and two menhir (standing rocks), and that shows how dynamic the first communities of farmers and shepherds were around here.
This dolmen is one of the most impressive examples of megalithic tombs in the Alto Alentejo landscapes, being classified since 1910 as a national monument.
