This cache is hidden at Kiwi Falls in Schoen Lake Provincial Park. Thought to be the highest waterfall on Vancouver Island. The trailhead and parking area is near the 22.5 km mark of the Upper Adam Main logging road. The falls can be seen from the road and for much of the hike in, but they're farther than they look. Beginning this hike early in the day is highly recommended
The route to the falls follows a well flagged trail through the woods for the first short section, then goes through the Nisnak Meadows and then back into the woods toward the base of Mount Schoen and Lower Kiwi Falls, a very nice falls in its own right but little more than a distraction in this area. Climb the hillside well left of the Lower Falls avoiding the sheer cliffs and then continue above the bank of Nisnak Creek to Kiwi Lake. Standing right next to the creek outflow area at the edge of the lake gives you perhaps the best full view of the falls through a narrow gap in the trees on the opposite side. The upper portion of the falls disappears from view as you get closer. The cache site is reached after a short walk through the old growth forest beyond the lake.
Good luck!
