Geocache Description:

SAFETY FIRST:

  • DO NOT come here if it’s wet or dark.
  • Take care near cliff edges and particularly at the balancing rock GZ.
  • Activate tracking on your GPSr. This is not quite trackless wilderness, but if you become disorientated, it will be handy to have a line on the map page to head to.
  • No climbing equipment is required to reach any of these caches.
  • You have to leave what passes for a track to climb up the ridge to the geocaches, but it’s not a difficult or dangerous climb.

ONCE AGAIN
There is a lot of dry lichen on these rocks. It will be treacherous when wet!

This is one of four geocaches in this area entitled "Balancing Rock".
To find the aforementioned rock, you have to find either of the two traditional caches which will both tell you where a nearby mystery geocache is located. That one will tell you where the balancing rock is located. Four geocaches for the cost of one “energetic” hike is good value in anyone’s language.

Inside the front cover of this geocache’s log book (and the other traditional) you’ll find co-ordinates for where you can stand to see the mystery cache “Balancing Rock – down there”. Inside the front cover of that geocache’s log book, you’ll find the co-ordinates for “Balancing Rock – WOW”.

At waypoint T1, a track heads off south-south-east. About 240 metres along, there is a fork. Keep to the right. It deteriorates into a heavily eroded gully before climbing up towards the geocache.

When you reach the posted co-ordinates for “Balancing Rock – down there”, turn left where another footpad intersects the one you are on. This will take you to the posted co-ordinates for “Balancing Rock – WOW”. Make your way from hereabouts up to the cache.

Now, the name of this geocache …
I usually have a cuppa and bikkies or a sandwich when I find one of these "out of the way" geocaches. An afternoon delight can be whatever you want it to be. I must say, it’s certainly a peaceful and private spot. Who’s gonna know?
