the Near and Long of it...
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
The nearest point is far from long, but the hike, if not the view, will leave you breathless.
Take pen and paper with you and a camera. Plan on about a two to two and a half hour hike in. Along the way stop at a "Room with a View" for a breather.
I would like two things:
First, when you find the cache use the averaging function on your GPS to get as accurate a coordinate as possible. If you don't have averaging, leave your GPS sitting on the point for at least five minutes for it to settle on a coordinate. Please publish your coordinates in your log and I will consolidate them and compare them. Also, record the elevation if you can.
Second, take a picture, standing over the point, aiming in a southeasterly direction (look at my photo). Publish your photo with your log and we may have a time lapse photo of the change in the view throughout the summer.
