Geocache Description:

A get together for Montreal area, Ottawa area, Quebec City area, Sherbrooke City area, Upper New York and Vermont cachers. Includes a rally and chance to eat & chat.

Meet in Agrignon Park, in the parking lot and greenspace just off of de la Verandrye.

The coordinates are now set at the meeting location in Agrignon Park. Access is just off of de la Verandrye. Look for the Blue Marquis.

Please bring portable chairs and picnic tables if you have any; while we can move some from other areas, there is no guarantee that we'll be able to find unoccupied tables to move! :)

There are two parts to this event:

A) Just like Tick & Nammie's "Go and Get 'Em" event in February, participants, PARTICULARLY MONTREAL AREA CACHERS, are invited to set up caches before June 15, but only post them after 6pm on *THURSDAY*, June 13 (so that road trippers have time to print them all out). The idea is mainly to set up caches in and around Montreal so that people can find them during the day, including along the way from wherever people may be coming. Simple caches, offsets, multi-caches, and particularly novel tricks are all welcome.

A good reference for how far out caches should be is within 50 miles (and preferably 35 miles) of "Iced Tea 4 the King", at N 45° 30.534 W 073° 35.270.

B) There will be a simple but challenging multi-cache RALLY with 8 waypoints set up by Don and Lars involving:

  • finding microcaches with stamps (the ink kind), using some tricks people have seen before and some new ones;
  • a microcache with a simple prize for all participants that will act as a momento as well as a claim chit for sodas & chips back at Agrignon Park where we will be meeting before and after;
  • a regular cache with trinkets at the end.

    Details *WILL*NOT* be published until you arrive. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN INK PAD in case the mini ink pads inside the stamps have dried out. After the event the rally multi-cache will become a cache in its own right.

    Said cache should be doable from beginning to end by 10 year olds (with adult help). Waypoints range from no walking to about 15 minutes of walking over moderate terrain. You will need a car; it will not be doable on the same day by bike unless you are a racer.

    There will also be simple prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the rally. The determination of said rankings will be kept secret.

    PLEASE PRINT OUT A NUMBER OF MONTREAL AREA CACHES, SUCH AS THOSE WHICH WILL BE SET FOR THIS EVENT, SINCE THERE SHOULD BE TIME FOR FINDING OTHER CACHES ONCE YOU'VE COMPLETED THE RALLY AND BEFORE MEETING AGAIN AT 4:00PM to 4:30PM.

    Agrignon Park does not have facilities but is easily accessible to small children and their strollers, Grandma, and elderly Newfoundland dogs.

    The rally will start between 9:00am and 11:00am to give time to road trippers to arrive at a leisurely pace and/or find caches on their way to the event. We will meet again at about 4:00pm to trade stories, award prizes, and eat. Prizes will be awarded shortly after 4:30pm.

    Throughout I will have my FRS radio on 5/5, so if you're nearby or in the park give me a call and we can switch to another channel to chat (I have two units, so I will still monitor 5/5 throughout.)

    BRING YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINK, but please also bring stuff that can be put on a picnic table for pot-luck. Don will provide some chips and sodas for those who get the claim chit momentos. PLEASE, no alcohol, since this is a public park and I don't intend on getting an alcohol licence.

    Please also post a note on this page to give me an idea of how many people are coming. Bring Grandma, kids, strollers and elderly Newfoundland dogs if you like. :) Leash usage will be de rigueur.
