Foggs Lookout is located at Eildon in the Shire of Murrindindi near the top of Mount Pinniger. It overlooks the Lake Eildon National Park and Eildon township. The last kilometre to the lookout is a good grade gravel road. It is 9 km from Eildon on the Mount Pinniger Road.
Foggs Lookout (also known as Mount Pinniger Lookout) was named after Thomas Wilkinson Pinniger, a surveyor involved in the Victorian Geodetic Survey completed September 1858. The survey established baselines for future ‘local’ surveys to work from. Thomas Wilkinson Pinniger married Helen Stewart of Habbies Howe 1857 and had seven children. Son, George Pinniger, became Surveyor General of Victoria.
