Geocache Description:

FOR THOSE WHO CAME IN LATE..... "The Phantom" originated in 1536, when KIT WALKER swore an oath on the skull of his father's murderer to fight evil.

The legacy of the Phantom is that the costume and rings would be passed from father to son, leaving people to give the mysterious figure nicknames such as "The Ghost Who Walks", "Guardian of the Eastern Dark" and "The Man Who Cannot Die", believing him to be immortal.

Unlike most fictional costumed heroes, LEE FALK created the Phantom to not have any superpowers, only relying on his strength, intelligence, and fearsome reputation.

The series began publication in America on February 17, 1936 making it the longest continually-running published comic character, outstripping any of Marvels creations.

The first appearance in Australia was also in 1936 as a strip comic in the back of the now defunct Australian Womens Mirror (1936-61), but the first stand-alone edition of The Phantom comic published in Australia was the "The Slave Traders", and there has been an unbroken publishing history of a new edition printed every fortnight since!

This first dedicated Australian Phantom comic debuted on what date?
