A no frills hunt, not for the weak of heart or the young, this
cache requires a 2.6 mile (each way) hike/bike along a mostly level
snowmobile trail AND then a challenging climb to the top of the
"Rock," where you'll be treated to 360° of spectacular views (be
sure to walk the trail around the top). You will not need climbing
gear -- just good hiking footwear. There are NO facilities,
drinking water, or services for miles, so bring drinking water,
binoculars, a camera, and/or a picnic lunch.....and let someone
know where you're headed. Come prepared for mosquitoes, ticks and
deer flies. Allow three to four hours, but do NOT attempt this
during rain, snow, or approaching darkness.
You are searching for a well stocked 30 cal. ammo can.
To avoid wetlands, we highly recommend staying on trail until
reaching: for those that enjoy climbing rocks, the western accent
begining off main trail at N 43° 52.905 W 089° 52.040 OR for those
that may prefer a mostly woods climb with only the last 30-40 feet
up between rocks, leave trail at N43° 52.975 / W 089° 51.774 (since
the tornado,it will be necessary to climb over trees on this
approach...but you should head towards a washout at approximately
N43* 52.961 / W 089* 51.905 to lead you to the top). Once on top
head for the cache.
NOTE: This is a Wisconsin Natural Area, so please treat nature
with extra respect. As with all geocaches, you take full
responsibility for seeking this cache. Happy Trails!
