Originally part of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway. Sinclairtown station opened on 17th September 1847 on the west side of St Clair St. It was closed on 1st January 1917. However it re-opened on 2nd March 1919 in a new building on the east side of St Clair St and finally closed to regular passenger traffic on 6th October 1969. The later station consisted of a single storey stone building, the frontage and side walls of which with bricked up windows and main door can still be seen. The roof has gone and the rear wall but the support beams and signs of the stairways can still be seen if you look over the wall.
On the opposite side of the road - what is now an Italian Restaurant was the Station Hotel.
