Geocache Description:

A nice Church Micro in the picturesque village of Drumelzier in the Borders.

Drumelzier Kirk dates from the early 16th century but again there was an earlier building on the site.  It has harled walls and is roofed with slate. There has been no major expenditure in the last 15 years and none is foreseen. Regular worship is not conducted in Drumelzier but occasional services are held including a candlelit service at Christmas.

It is said, according Scottish myth, that Merlin, the wizard from Arthurian legend, was buried 200 yards NNW of Drumelzier Church, on the level haugh close to the right bank of the River Tweed. No structural remains are now to be seen, or have ever been recorded, at the place in question, but it is possible that the tradition may have been originated from the discovery of a Bronze Age cist.

The cache is magnetic and is not in the wall. Writing implement required. Thanks
