Maybe you know that the word “America” in Russian is a synonym of wealth and prosperity. But do you know that less than 100 kilometers from St.-Petersburg is situated ours, Russian America?
This is a workers' townships at the peat extraction area named so bombastic and so strange in 1920s, when was realized an attempt to create wealth and prosperity by Russian labor under American management. This venture was to be similar to the US, including working efficiency and labor discipline.
In those times, the USSR leaders had some interest in Henry Ford ideas of management. His books (with verified comments, of course) were printed in Soviet Russia. Was the Fordist experiment successful in the state of Bolsheviks? Let's check!
First rent a car in St.-Petersburg and drive by R21 highway (Р21 in Cyrillic), also known as the “Kola” up to urban locality Naziya (Russian: Назия) Marking POI in your GPS device, do not mix it with the village Naziya or railway station with the same name!
After rail crossing N 59° 50.958' E 31° 35.489', the road to Russian America begins! You may use any maps in your GPS device before this cross, but further only Open Street maps are suitable. Then visit:
• The 1st township: N 59° 48.963' E 31° 37.718'
• The 2nd township: N 59° 47.507' E 31° 36.169'
