The Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people carved totem poles out of huge cedar trees to tell their stories (they did not have a written language). The paint was made from the women chewing on salmon eggs then mixing with natural minerals for color. 30 to 50 people would live in a Clan House this size. The native culture and stories are fascinating, I hope you learn something new while you are here.
The cache is a large lock-n-lock container, with room for Travel Bugs. Behind the Restoration Building there is a large fallen tree, there is no need to climb over the tree or go the the back side of it. We get very high winds of up to 100 miles per hour and many times it blows our trees down which is what happened here.
