Geocache Description:

The published coordinates are for the Scout Group’s headquarters but the cache is not there. To get the co-ordinates for the cache location you will need to do some research into Scouting and find the answers to some questions.

The Scout Association is the UK's largest mixed youth organisation with more than 450,000 members in the UK and more across the world, which could explain why Moore4us is the third generation to be a Scout in our family.

Moore4us was very keen to create a Scout Geocache but didn’t want to make it too easy for everyone and so to get the co-ordinates for the cache location you will need to answer the following questions:

  1. How many colours are there on the 1st Knaphill Scout Group scarf? A
  2. Every year Woking District Scouts run a weekend camp (Buddycamp - previously called Handycamp)to give children with Special Needs from the Woking area a chance to try typical scouting activities.  In what year was the first camp held?  19BC
  3. How many Scout Districts make up the Surrey Scout County?  DE
  4. According to the Scout Association’s Annual Report and Accounts for 2014, how many Cub Scouts were there in the UK in 2014? (rounded to the nearest thousand)?  1FG,000  (See Hint!)
  5. In which year did Lord Robert Baden Powell’s experimental Scout Camp take place on Brownsea Island? 19H7
  6. In which year was the Royal Charter issued to The Boy Scouts Association by King George V? 191J
  7. The official opening of Gilwell Park was postponed until Saturday 26 July 1919 so that Scouts could take part in the Official Peace Festival commemorating the end of World War 1.  The invitations were altered by hand to save money – what was the original date in July?  KL
  8. The Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland was created to be a place where Scouts from all over the world could meet at a permanent mini Jamboree site.  What number in “Wagetiweg” is Kandersteg International Scout Centre? M
  9. Which date in February is significant to Scouts?   NP
  10. Which numbered Scout Law (which would also make a very good “Geocacher’s Law”) states that ”A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.”?  Q

The final location of the cache is at:

N51 (D)(L).(E-G-A)(B-C-D)(L-F-J)
W0 (G)(Q).(M+K+H)(C+Q-F)(N-P+H)
