L'ancien couvent des Cordeliers des Thons est un édifice religieux fondé au XVe siècle sur la commune des Thons

Le couvent des cordeliers des Thons est aujourd'hui l'ensemble franciscain le mieux conservé du nord-est de la France.

 

Le couvent a été fondé en 1452 à la demande de Guillaume de Saint-Loup et son épouse Jeanne de Choiseul. Il est construit au Petit-Thon avec  l'autorisation en 1451 du pape Nicolas V.

L'église du couvent, dédiée à Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, est consacrée en 1483. La maison du Châtelet qui construit le château des Thons au début du XVIIe siècle avait une chapelle pour accueillir les sépultures de ses membres.

Comme les 283 autres couvents que les Cordeliers possédaient en France, le couvent des Thons ferme ses portes en 1790 à la suite des événements de la Révolution française. . En 1791, les biens meubles du couvent et les bâtiments sont vendus.

Il est inscrit aux monuments historiques le 20 juin 1945, à l'exception de l'église Notre-Dame-des-neiges3 qui est classée le 15 décembre 19804.

 

Il y a aujourdhui une partie privée, un musée et un restaurant qui appartiennents chacun à un proprietaire different. Il est possible de visiter gratuitement.

 

The former convent of the Cordeliers Tuna is a religious building founded in the fifteenth century in the town of Tuna

The convent of the Cordeliers Tuna is now all Franciscan best preserved north-eastern France.

The convent was founded in 1452 at the request of William of Saint-Loup and his wife Jeanne de Choiseul. It is built in the Petit-Thon in 1451 with the permission of Pope Nicolas V.

The monastery church, dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows, was consecrated in 1483. The house Châtelet who built the castle Tuna in the early seventeenth century was a chapel to house the tombs of its members.

Like the 283 other monasteries that possessed in France Cordeliers, the convent of the Tunas closed in 1790 following the events of the French Revolution. . In 1791, the personal property of the convent and the buildings are sold.

It is registered with the historic buildings June 20, 1945, with the exception of the Notre-Dame-des-neiges3 is classified 15 December 19804.

There is today a private party, a museum and a restaurant appartiennents each to a different owner. You can visit for free.
