La montagne de St Sernin se nomme en fait "Mont Rome Chateau". De ce sommet la vue est magnifique sur la campagne et le joli village de "St Sernin du Plain" en Bourgogne (Saône et loire).
Je dis "MA" car ce village est celui de ma jeunesse où j'ai passé tant de bons moments, et cette montagne m'avait toujours attiré pour sa vue splendide certes, mais surtout pour l'enchevêtrement de roches calcaires où l'on peut crapahuter, explorer des grottes, se cacher quand on est jeune ... et aussi depuis une quinzaine d'années pratiquer l'escalade sur quelques voies bien équipées de 10 à 20 mètres de haut. J'ai donc parcouru tous ces endroits des dizaines et dizaines de fois !
Il s'agit d'une petite cache que vous pouvez faire assez rapidement lors d'un passage dans cette région, et rassurez-vous, facilement, sans être obligé de grimper!
Accès à la cache:
Vous pouvez vous garer à quelques mètres de la cache. Une petite route goudronnée mène tout au sommet de la montagne. Quelques circuits de randonnée passent également par ici.
Profitez de la splendide vue à 360°.
Dirigez vous vers les coordonnée indiquées. Voir les spoilers d'accès (à 10m et de près). Surtout ne pas descendre. Passez juste un creux (en traversant un buisson, d'un mètre de profondeur) pour atteindre un petit plateau herbeux au même niveau. La cache est dans un trou de rocher à gauche sous des pierres. Attention, vous êtes très près du bord de la falaise, mais vous pouvez attraper la boite facilement et sans danger.
ATTENTION: Bien remettre la boite sur la partie gauche du trou, car à droite, il y a un passage et la cache tomberait quelques mètres en dessous (récupérable par les buissons, mais pas facile !).
Facultatif: point de vue sur les rochers d'escalade (R1)
Si vous avez quelques minutes, n'hésitez pas à venir voir ce point de vue. Devant vous, à votre niveau, se trouve un grand rocher avec une grande face d'escalade sur votre droite. On accède au pied par un sentier pierreux. En continuant à descendre, vous pourrez trouver tout un dédale de rochers (dont un, étrangement lisse), une grotte... Le terrain de jeu de mon enfance et d'escalade ensuite !

St Sernin's montain is in fact: "Mont Rome Chateau". From here, you'll have a gorgeous vue of the contryside and the pretty village of "St Sernin of the Plain" in Burgondy (Saône et Loire).
I say "MY" because this village is that of my childhood, where I spent so many good moments, and this mountain always attracted me not only for its splendid view, but especially for the tangle of big rocks where you can go walking here and there, exploring caves, hiding when you are young ... and also, for about fifteen years, climbing on well equipped routes, some of them twenty meters high. So I walked around all these places tens and tens times!
It's a small multicache that you can do quickly visiting this region, and reassure yourself, easily without having to climb!
Acces to the cache:
You can easily park a few meters far from the box. A small road leads up to the top of the mountain. A few hiking trails pass also here.
Enjoy the scenic view on near 360°.
Head to the coordinates. See the access spoilers (at 10m, and near the box). Don't go down. Cross a very small ravine (with a bush, 1 meter depth) and reach a small grassy plateau at the same level. The cache is in a rock hole left, under stones. Be careful, you are very close to the edge of the cliff, but you can catch the box easily and safely.
BE CAREFUL: Put back the box on the left side of the hole ! Otherwise the box could fall down a few meter underneath, and not easy to retrieved (only by the ravine and lot of bushs).
Optional: view on the climbing rocks (R1)
If you have a few minutes left, go and see this view. In front of you, this is the big rock with on it's right side a lot of climbing ways. Go down the rocky trail to reach the bottom. Than, lower, you''ll be able to discover a lot of rocks (a big one oddly smooth), a cave... It was all that the playing groung of my childhood and climbing later !
