Mount Gowar Scenic Reserve is located between St. Arnaud and Charlton. Being located in a relatively flat region of the world, it offers one of the few elevated views around this region.
The scenic reserve has an area of 64.5ha and was established in September 1987. At the time of hiding this cache, just across from the scenic reserve the construction of some wind turbines has begun. Eventually these will provide power for Canberra!
From this point, you will get a bit of a view to the East of Mt. Gowar. However, the hero here is weathering. This particular collection of rocks show off the talents of Mother Nature and what she can get up to.
This can be accessed with a two wheel drive vehicle, although I would recommend one with some decent ground clearance. Don’t attempt the ascent via 2WD vehicle after a heavy rain. Mount Gowar can also be walked by anyone of a half-reasonable fitness.
