Geocache Description:

Just off the mall, this cache is easy and can be part of an enjoyable trip around the centre of DC (just as we enjoyed ours). Access to this cache is limited between 8.30am to 5.30pm. The answer is inside the building, just go in at the front entrance and turn left.

Try to find the tomb of this English Scientist who is closely linked to the history of DC. Although this person's name is known across the world for being associated with DC, he died in Italy and never visited the USA during his life! His remains were brought here later by Alexander Graham Bell.

This person was the illegitimate son of the 1st Duke of Northumberland and became a famous Scientist in his own right. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, publishing 27 scientific papers in his lifetime and having a chemical element named after him. His Mother lived in Bath, England, near where we live.

To prove your visit to this location please mail the answers to the following questions through our profile at the top of this page (please remember to release your email address to enable my reply):
1. What is his name?
2. How many years after his death was he moved here?

The answer is NOT Joseph Henry! The correct answer is inside the building.

Under no circumstances should you post the answers in your log or post photographs of the answer. You must physically visit this cache in order to log it, please do not abuse this requirement (I regret that I will have to delete logs that do not meet these requirements). When you email the answer then please remember to release your email address to enable us to reply.
