Geocache Description:

Altesina Mount gives the name to the Reserve, that belongs to the territory of Nicosia. On the top there are remains of ancient villages. From a botanical point of view one of the most important species is the holm oak (Quercus ilex). Very popular is also Nebrodi broom (Genista aristata).
From the motorway Palermo-Catania take the exit Mulinello, then go on in direction to Nissoria, then Nicosia and follow the signals to RNO Monte Altesina. Leave the car outside the gate. If the gate is closed that the pedestrian access on the right.
