SBPW #09: Waalwege Traditional Cache

Im sonnigen Südtirol, insbesondere im Vinschgau und im Burggrafenamt, haben die Bauern seit jeher mit der Trockenheit zu kämpfen.
Das milde und sonnige Klima ist ausgezeichnet für Obstplantagen, weshalb im Vinschgau Äpfel und Erdbeeren angebaut werden. Zur Bewässerung wurden die Waale entwickelt, die zum Transport und zur Verteilung des vorhandenen Wassers dienen. Aus höher gelegenen Tälern wurde das Wasser teils über 1000 Meter tief in den Vinschgau geleitet. Lange Bewässerungskanäle wurden gegraben und in Felsen gehauen, Rohre aus Metall und Holz (sogenannte Kandeln) dienten als Leitungen.

Heute kann man auf diesen Wegen das ganze Jahr über gemütliche Wanderungen unternehmen. Die Wege zeichnen sich durch geringe Steigungen aus, oft gibt es auch schöne Ausblicke auf die umliegenden Berge. Schmale Pfade und breitere Wege wechseln sich ab, Trittsicherheit und Schwindelfreiheit sind nur äußerst selten vonnöten. Die meisten Wege verlaufen ohne Steigung und sind mit normalem Schuhwerk zu begehen.

In Alto Adige, soprattutto nella Val Venosta e il Burgraviato, gli agricoltori da sempre dovevano lottare con la siccità.
Il clima mite e soleggiato è eccellente per frutteti, per questo le mele e le fragole sono coltivate in Val Venosta. I canali di irrigazione sono state sviluppate per l'irrigazione, che venivano utilizzati per il trasporto e la distribuzione dell'acqua disponibile. Da vallate superiori, l'acqua è stata approvata in parte oltre 1000 metri di profondità verso la Val Venosta. Canali di irrigazione sono stati scavati lunghi e scolpite nella roccia e tubi di metallo e legno (chiamato Kandeln) hanno servito come condotti.

Oggi si possono fare piacevole passeggiate tutto l`anno accanto questi sentieri di rocca. I percorsi sono caratterizzati da pendenze basse, spesso hanno una splendida vista sulle montagne circostanti. Stretti sentieri e percorsi più ampi si alternano, passo sicuro e la testa per la libertà sono raramente necessari. La maggior parte dei percorsi eseguiti senza pendenza e stanno commettendo con calzature normali.
