Geocache Description:

[EN] Redans was built in the Liepāja in late 19th century as Naval fortress fortification. It was an important subject, which is located at Tosmares lake and during the war would be protecting the front line between the North and Middle Fort. Historically fortress fortification has been blown up twice, but, strangely, the channel's largest building - Redans experienced both blastings and persists until today.

Its tend to believe that the fortress canal shores of real acts of war never took place, but it is not exactly true. Fortress canal and its bank of existing military facilities had an important role in November 1919 Freedom Fights against bermontians. In 1919 November 14 morning, moving Tosmares frozen lake, Bermontians infantry, overcoming latvians resistance, ranked Redans and strengthened. However, around 10 o'clock Liepaja naval port commandant, First Lieutenant Robert Radziņš with their soldiers carried out a fierce counterattack, and the germans had to retreat.
