Geocache Description:

A relatively easy cache located at the site of the former Libby's Cannery.

peach pear grapes pineapple cherry

Prior to the explosion of Silicon Valley as we know it today, this area was known for its agriculture and canneries. The Libby, McNeill, and Libby Cannery opened in 1907 and by 1922 was the world's largest cannery operation as it processed the agricultural products grown in Santa Clara Valley. The cannery closed in 1982 after 75 years of operation. Legend has it that fruit cocktail was accidentally invented here. Only one structure of the former cannery still remains at N37° 22.868' / W122° 02.094' and can be seen from the roads around here.

There is much activity around this area so please be discreet when visiting this cache. After business hours is recommended. (Thanks CourtneyP!)

Have fun!
