Topkapı, Millet Caddesi üzerinde bulunan ve 13.yy'da inşa edilen bir Bizans Manastırının parçası olan yapı Fatih Sultan Mehmed döneminde Mustafa Çavuş tarafından camiye çevrilmiştir.
Dikdörtgen planlı ve ahşap tavanlı yapının daha önce tahtadan yapılmış bir minaresi bulunmaktaydı. Bir dönem garaj deposu olarak da kullanılmış olan yapı 1996 yılından itibaren tekrardan cami olarak kullanılmaya başlanmış... bugün mabet kare planlı çatılı ve kagirdir. duvarları moloz taş ve tuğla ile inşa edilmiştir. iç tavanı ve minberi ahşaptır. yamuk mihrabı alçıdandır. giriş kapısı garajın içindedir. giriş kapısının üstü eternitle kapatılarak son cemaat yeri yapılmıştır. minaresi yoktur. eskiden tahta bir minaresi varmış, yanında bulunan çeşme ve mektebi yıkılarak yok olmuştur.
It s Turkish name, that is to say, Manastir ( Monastery ) indicates that in Byzantine times it was a part of a monastery, very probably of the Monastery of Kyra Martha.It was Mustafa Chavush . a subject of Mehmed 2, who turned the building into a masjid, the expenses of which were provided by a waqf of the Sultan.
Manastır Mosque is a former Eastern Orthodox church converted into amosque by the Ottomans. Neither archeological excavations nor medieval sources have made it possible to find a satisfactory answer as to its original dedication as a church. It is however possible that the small building was part of the Byzantine monastery dedicated to the Holy Martyrs Menodora, Metrodora, and Nymphodora (Μονῆ τῶν Άγίων Μηνοδώρας, Μητροδώρας καὶ Νυμφοδώρας), or an annex of the nunnery of Kyra Martha. The edifice is a minor example of Byzantine architecturein Constantinople, and is important for historical reasons.
