Geocache Description:

Mini series of three hiding places (2 on Quillebeuf's village and one opposite "on the other side of the water" as say the Normans.

In the estuary, the ferryboat allows to cross the Seine to Quillebeuf, beautiful typical village the sailors of which had formerly the monopoly of the piloting. To thank these sailors of Quillebeuf of their help during the One hundred years war, the king of France granted them the monopoly of the piloting in the Seine. Royal recollection still haunts the medieval streets because the most beautiful of the houses of XVII-th and XVIII-th centuries is other than the House Henri IV. But the recollection of the sailors and the pilots remained even stronger. At first in the church decorated with ex-voto, with models of boats and stained glasses polychromes of XVI-th century. Then by motives sculptured on houses in half-timbering of the Renaissance (Sergenterie, house of the Paradise, the House of the boatman) or by the graffiti engraved on the stone of passages and internal walls. On the quays of the Seine, the ferryboat always allows to cross the Seine as formerly. Financed with the Departments of Eure and the Maritime Seine, it is henceforth free and allows you to go to walk or by car to make the 3-rd hiding place of the series " the Borne Napoleon ", then if you are in cycle or brave to go a little farther to make every series in NDG.
