Geocache Description:

R.W. Stone Reserve is a reasonably sized park and sporting location with child friendly playground.
And bushland walking tracks...

Somers is a residential and seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, facing Western Port Bay and looking towards Phillip Island.

Somers was originally part of the Coolart pastoral run, and after subdivision of the run Somers was part of a cattle property which had a homestead at the Coolart wetland, immediately to the west.

The Coolart homestead underwent a succession of owners, including Alfred Grimwade and Thomas Luxton.
Luxton succeeded in having the lagoon made a wildlife reserve in the 1930's.

Over time the holiday houses and permanent residents of Somers increased, and the trend has continued.

The small hall in the reserve was used as a school and was replaced with a new building later on.
