A Reserva Florestal de Recreio das Macelas, situado a ocidente, na freguesia de Santo Amaro, concelho de Velas, possui uma área aproximada de 6 hectares e atinge uma altitude de 400 metros.
Apresenta um revestimento arbóreo formado por faixas de criptoméria que envolvem em quase toda a periferia, existe ainda um alpendre para merendas, área de jogos, um jardim de endémicas, um rockgarden.
Possui um miradouro, que permite avistar amplas perspetivas sobre a costa sul da ilha de São Jorge, o Canal do Pico e a ilha do Faial mais a oriente.

The Forest of the Macelas Plateau, is situated to the west, in the parish os Santo Amaro, municipality of Velas. It contains an area of around 6 hectares and stands at an altitude of 400 meters.
Present vegetation consists of rows of cryptomerias lining almost the whole of its periphery, there are also a shelter for pic-nics, a games area, a garden of endemic species.
The viewpoint, affords panoramic views of the south coast of the S.Jorge Island , the Canal do Pico (Pico Channel), and the island of Faial, further to the east.
