How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
From here you will see the view that Vernon saw. I wouldn’t say it was THE most spectacular view in town, but it’s not bad, and besides, what do you expect for a 1 star terrain! Not only that, but there’s free parking here – where else can you find that in the heart of Canberra!
Here are some of the things I viewed from here – see how many you can find:
Parliament House, Commonwealth Ave Bridge, Captn Cook Fountain, Rydges Hotel, Lakeside Towers, Canberra Museum, Telstra Tower, Taxation Offices, City Hill, Canberra City, Canberra Theatre, Mt Ainslie, Olympic Pool, Carillion, Commonwealth Park, Mt Mugga Mugga, Tidbinbilla Range (with snow).
When you arrive at the start location, you will find which way and how far to look to see the above mentioned items. To find the cache, using the distances you’ve found, calculate:
Minutes South = St Johns Church /100 + Tidbinbilla – Anatomy
Minutes East = War Memorial + Mt Mugga Mugga + Mt Ainslie
The final Degrees remain unchanged.
If the final location is more than 150m away, do your sums again.
