Great view of Anglesey and the Menai Straights from this location. Felinheli was re-named as Port Dinorwig when a harbour was built to export slate from the Dinorwig Quarry."Felinheli" comes from the Welsh meaning melin:mill and heli:brine/salt-water/sea. An alternative interpretation is from "Y Felinheulyn", the mill on the River Heulyn which runs into the village. Before this the area was known as Aberpwll.
Gewch olygfeydd gwych o Ynys Môn ac afon Menai o’r lleoliad yma. Cafodd Y Felinheli ei ailenwi fel Porth Dinorwig pan adeiladwyd yr harbwr i allforio llechu o Chwarel Dinorwig. Ddoth yr enw Felinheli o’r geiriau Melin a Heli sef dŵr hallt/Môr, ond dehongliad arall yw’r enw Felinheulyn, sef Melin ar yr afon Heulyn sydd yn rhedeg i’r pentref. Cyn hyn adnabuwyd yr ardal fel Aberpwll.
