Baker University Wetlands Research and Natural Area is a 927 acre area north of the Wakarusa River south of the City of Lawrence. It contains native wetland prairie, restored meadows, marshes, open water, shrubby secondary growth, and mature riparian woodlands. The area is designated as a National Natural Landmark and Natural and Scientific Area. Baker Wetlands #6 is located at the Wetlands Discovery Center, 1365 N. 1250 Road Lawrence, Kansas 66046. Cache is reached from Parking Area #1
The Baker Wetlands includes the Discovery Center and 7 miles of trails. Trails are open dawn to dusk and welcome hiking, biking, kids, and four-footed kids (leash and doggy bag required). Cache #6 can see high Muggle traffic on weekends. Wetlands maps and other information are available in the Discovery Center, 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00 Mon-Sat, 1:00-3:00 Sun.
