St Luke - Sambrook
This cache is one of a series set at or near churches in the lovely surroundings of the Shropshire countryside.
We’d like to thank The Washers for conceiving the idea, initiating the series and inviting other cachers to add to it.
St Luke's is situated in the lovely village on Sambrook, not far off the A41. Sambrook means "sandy stream" and is recorded in the Domesday Book as Semebre.
The church was designed by the architect Benjamin Ferrey and was built in 1856. It is build of red sandstone and is set in a beautiful and spacious churchyard. The church consists of a nave and chancel, with a north aisle and vestry, south porch and a western timbered belfry with wooden spirelet.
