Slēpnim var piekļūt gan pa sauszemi, gan pa ūdeni - skatīt norādītās stāvvietas.

Pats Valterkalniņš jeb Valtera kalniņš – savulaik Valmieras viduslaiku pils nocietinājuma izvirzījums pie Rātsupītes ietekas Gaujā. 17.gadsimtā zviedru laikā te izveidots ravelīns aizsardzībai, bet 20.gadsimt 20. – 30. gados izteikti pieņēmumi, ka kalniņš varētu būt bijis kāds no senču pilskalniem – Autīne vai pat leģendārās Beverīnas atrašanās vieta. Vai kāds no mums var uzreiz pateikt, cik tad īsti vecs un, kurš pēc skaita ir tagadējais skaistais paviljons? Pēdējais, - jaunais koka paviljons atjaunots, izmantojot 20.gadsimta sākuma pastkartēs iemūžināto celto priekšteci. Tā pakājē - nelielais bruģētais laukumiņš. Uzkāpjot pa akmens pakāpieniem, no paviljona labi pārskatāma gleznainā apkārtne un Gauja, pilsdrupas, Muzejs, Lucas kalns un Elku saliņa, Memoriāls, - vietas, kuras būtu vērts apskatīt ne tikai tūristiem un mūsu pilsētas viesiem, bet arī mums, valmieriešiem!

[EN] The cache is a small plastic container. There is the logbook, a pencil, and a pencil sharpener inside.

The cache can be accessed both by land and by water - please see noted parking areas.

Valter's hill has been a part of the Valmiera castle fortifications in the 17th century. The viewpoint on top of the hill gives you a nice panoramic view of some of the nice features of the town - the nature along with the river Gauja in front of You with the Goat rapids upstream, the new nicely iluminated city bridge to the right, the old castle ruins and the museum behind You, and the Luca hill, the Memorial and the Idol's island to Your left.
